On October 12th, the 20th Annual Meeting of the Magnesium Industry Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and the 2017 Magnesium Industry Conference were held in Weihai. Sun Qian, Vice President and Secretary General of the Magnesium Industry Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, reported on the situation of the magnesium industry in 2017 at the meeting. Fused magnesia
According to statistics from the China Non ferrous Metals Industry Association, from January to July 2017, China's Communist Party produced 588700 tons of magnesium, a year-on-year increase of 8.42%. Among them, the cumulative production in Shaanxi region was 276800 tons, an increase of 9.19% year-on-year; The cumulative production in Ningxia region was 100500 tons, a year-on-year increase of 21.47%, while the cumulative production in Shanxi region was 81400 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.73%.
According to statistical data, from January to July 2017, China exported 283800 tons of various magnesium ingot products, a year-on-year increase of 29.95%, with a cumulative amount of 654 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 26.81%. Among them, a total of 152200 tons of magnesium ingots were exported, an increase of 40.13% year-on-year; A total of 75100 tons of magnesium alloy were exported, an increase of 10.83% year-on-year; A total of 51000 tons of magnesium powder were exported, an increase of 40.22% year-on-year.
From the perspective of export structure, primary products such as magnesium ingots, magnesium alloys, and magnesium powder are still important export varieties, accounting for approximately 97.5% of the total export volume. Adjusting the export structure and increasing the added value of export products are still important issues in the development of the magnesium industry.
Market situation. After 2008, the magnesium market in China has entered a relatively mature period, with prices becoming increasingly reasonable. However, since July of this year, magnesium prices have returned to frenzy, with a monthly increase of over 3000 yuan/ton, reaching a high of 18500 yuan/ton since 2012.
From the perspective of market supply and demand, both domestic magnesium production and export volume have increased in the past 7 months of this year, and supply and demand have basically remained balanced. This round of market is mainly driven by the prices of raw materials such as ferrosilicon and coal, which are influenced by both factors and human factors.
In 2017, China's magnesium production showed a stable upward trend, and both production and export are expected to show positive growth. Preliminary estimates indicate that the annual production of raw magnesium is around 900000 tons, and the export volume is around 400000 tons. The fluctuation range of raw magnesium prices is between 15000 to 18000 tons. Regarding prices, Sun Qian believes that reasonable fluctuations are normal, but they are detrimental to enterprise operations and industry development, and will greatly affect the development of industry applications.
Sun Qian stated that the magnesium industry is a strategic emerging industry, but it is still in the early stage of development. There is not enough understanding of magnesium materials in various industries, and even a considerable number of people have a "wrong" understanding of magnesium, which hinders the promotion of magnesium material applications. In 2018, the Magnesium Industry Branch will actively carry out the promotion of "knowing and using magnesium" to increase recognition of magnesium materials and expand the application of magnesium. And will continue to promote the research and development of new technologies for magnesium smelting, strive to promote pilot and industrial work, promote energy conservation, emission reduction, transformation and upgrading of the magnesium smelting industry, reduce costs, and improve the competitiveness of magnesium smelting products; To achieve a breakthrough in the large-scale application of magnesium materials.
